Dr. habil. of Engineering Sciences, Associate Professor, Professor at the Department of Radio Communications and Broadcasting of The Bonch-Bruevich St Petersburg State University of Telecommunications (Scopus ID, Web of Science ResearcherID, IEEE Xplore).

Member of the Dissertation Council at The Bonch-Bruevich St Petersburg State University of Telecommunications.

Laureate of the St. Petersburg Government Award. The winner of 19 competitions and grants at the regional and federal levels on scientific, technical, scientific and pedagogical activities in the field of building and functioning promising radio communication networks, positioning technologies, software-configurable radio and diagram formation in smart antennas. The founder of a new scientific direction on the positioning of devices in radio communication networks, as well as on the applied use of software-configurable radio technologies in education. Under the leadership of G.A. Fokina at St. Petersburg State University has created and equipped with modern software and hardware and measuring complexes a research laboratory for software-configurable radio, which implements advanced individual practice-oriented approaches to training specialists at all levels of education.

Research interests of G.A. Fokin: positioning of user devices in communication networks; beam control and diagram formation in the millimeter wave range, applied use of software-configurable radio technologies in communication and navigation systems; theory and practice of building and functioning of ultra-dense radio access networks of the fifth and subsequent generations; networks and systems based on unmanned aerial vehicles; technologies single-user and multi-user multi-antenna systems; modern and promising systems of radio communication, sensing, radar and short-range radio navigation in the range of millimeter and submillimeter waves.
